1. To provide a safe, secure atmosphere to enable our service men and women, our EMT’s, our First Responders, Our RCMP, our Reservists, our veterans and their caregivers and family members, a place where they can interact with each other. A place where they can be with their peers where they can openly discuss the challenges they all face due to the affects of PTSD, without fear of repercussion. A place where healing can begin.

2. To bring national attention to the challenges of PTSD these Wounded Warriors face on a daily basis.

3. To enable the public to express their appreciation of our Wounded Warriors.

Strategic Plan to Achieve Purpose 

With advancements in battlefield medicine and body armor, an

unprecedented percentage of service members are surviving severe wounds or injuries.

Wounded Warriors live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post- traumatic stress disorder.

Many are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment. The founders of Wounded Warriors Weekend were cognizant of the fact there were many programs offered to assist the service members who were facing these challenges.

However, the founders felt there was a need for a less medicinal approach to those challenges. 

Since its beginnings, Wounded Warriors Weekend has taken a holistic approach to nurture the mind and body, to help in the healing process when serving our Wounded Warriors. Through a high-touch and interactive peer-to-peer approach, WWW founders only driving force was to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history .

 Wounded Warrior Weekend serves veterans, service members, reservists and RCMP, as well as EMT’s and First Responders who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their service. Our all volunteer organization has created and will continue to create a weekend expressly designed for the candidates we refer to as Wounded Warriors. The weekends will continue activities such as fishing, golf, entertainment and outdoor activities that are conducive to family participation. Although the activities and events are designed for the Wounded Warriors they are also designed to include public participation and interaction with the Wounded Warriors. Participation by the Wounded Warriors is by their choice. In order to maintain a family atmosphere and encourage interaction amongst the participants we limit our events to 40 to 50 participants per weekend.

The unprecedented success of Wounded Warriors Weekend and the continuing support by the people of our Province of Saskatchewan as well as international recognition of our efforts gave cause to the WWW Foundation to envision, create and establish Camp Independence Tobin Lake Saskatchewan.
